 Silence is Sexy

Silence is sexy
Silence is sexy
So sexy
So sexy
Just your silence is not sexy at all
Just your silence is not sexy at all
Your silence is not sexy at all
*from the song Silence is sexy by the German band Einsturzende Neubauten

The exhibition segment called Silence is Sexy is named after the song of the German band Einstürzende Neubauten from their 1993 album Tabula Rasa. This title was found convenient for the fearful and unbearable silence present within the framework of the profession, and a permanent state of emergency characterized by the absence of an open dialogue. Thus, (whether they are medially recognizable or they are quite hybrids) the artwork by this group of artists cannot be seen just like a physical manifestation of their creative striving, but as a coherent socially and politically articulated gesture which is a direct reaction to the current state of both the art system and the entire society.

Photo/video performance named "Because, moving is a must" is artwork made upon invitation of artist Sanja Latinović, selector/curator of the exhibition segment "Silence is sexy" for ULUS international triennial of extended media, multimedia art and new media art.

Roller skating, among other things, is typical for abandoned places like halls, institutions, shopping malls etc. The gesture of roller skating at the Cvijeta Zuzorić gallery de facto emphasizes the lifelessness of the pavilion which for a decade remains a specter of the past times, where there's almost no place for contemporary.
